“Bodies in Likoni Tragedy Will Not Be Recovered” Says Moses Kuria.

Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria has said that the bodies of the mother and child in the Likoni tragedy will not be retrieved from the Indian Ocean.

He asked Kenya Ferry Services to stop lying to Kenyans that the bodies of Mariam Kighenda and daughter Amand Mutheu will be retrieved.

He said the Government should fire KFS Boss Bakari Gowa for putting in risk the lives of more than 300,000 passengers that cross the Likoni and Mtongwe channels between the island and the South Coast mainland every day.“Kenya Ferry Services should stop giving Kenyans hope that they will recover the bodies and the vehicle.

A whole 7 minutes was lost watching an innocent lady and her child die.

The attention should shift to firing the CEO and ensuring this will never happen again.” He posted on Facebook.

Kuria joins MPs Tom Odege (Nyatike), Moses Kiarie Mugambi Murwithania (Buuri), and Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central) who have demanded the immediate resignation of the KFS Boss.

So far, efforts by the Navy and private divers to locate the bodies of the victims have not bore fruits.

The recovery efforts suffered a blow after Swedish Scuba diver, who vowed to recover the bodies and vehicle under two hours but failed to blame poor visibility.

He said: “I want to retract on my earlier statement that I would recover the car and the bodies in just two hours. There is zero visibility and the channel is very deep”.Kenyans have blamed the government for failing to avert the accident and also act on time to save the lives of Miriam and her daughter.
