Man Utd’s interest in signing Barcelona star at £100million+ in January transfer window

Manchester United spent heavily in the summer transfer window to strengthen the squad but they could not adequately reinforce the attacking department.

The Red Devils allowed Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez to leave for Inter Milan and did not replace them. Now, after six Premier League fixtures, Solskjaer’s men are 8th in the table, 10 points behind league leaders and arch rivals Liverpool.

In such a scenario, reports (The Independent ) suggest that Solskjaer wants to improve the quality of the team and United are considering moves to hire the services of Mario Mandzukic and Ousmane Dembele to strengthen things up front. Our focus is on the French playmaker.

The former Borussia Dortmund star is a versatile talent, who can effectively play anywhere in the attacking third. He has got raw pace, brilliant dribbling ability and a quality eye for goal.

Unfortunately, in his debut campaign (2017-18) with the Catalan giants, Dembele missed most part of the season due to injury and only featured in 17 league fixtures.

Last season, he directly contributed in 23 goals in 42 appearances for the Spanish champions but in the current campaign, so far, he has only started once and missed five fixtures due to a hamstring concern.

According to The Independent, Barca would be willing to offload Dembele and he is valued at over £100million. The 22-year-old is a proven quality star but clearly, he has been highly injury prone.

In your view, should United splash the cash to sign the World Cup winning attacker?
